The journey encapsulated in my book "Towards Success" is actually my own. I never
understood how all these things affected me before. As all other persons, I knew only two emotions-
happy in good moments and sad in bad situations. But as I read some books and gained experiences
through life, I understood the 'secret'. From that time onwards, I came to know why a person is sad
all the time, or why he keeps waiting for moments of happiness to come into his life.
Slowly, I learnt that all the happiness, sadness, neverousness and impulsiveness are always
within us. We cannot put the blame on others for our sadness, failure, etc. Repeated thinking of
negative thoughts invites more of the same thoughts and allows them to settle down in our body
and mind.
Normally, we don't even invite those guests who disturb us or give us trouble, then why do
we invite the negative feelings that trouble our mind, and let them make our mind and body sick. It's
the truth. As long as we have a soul inside our body, we have life in it. So, it's our moral duty to keep
our mind and body clean. People bathe daily and change into new and fresh clothes. What about the
freshness of our mind?
We brush our teeth daily, change clothes, wash our face, but the most important thing, our
body, remains unclean despite all these rituals. Why? Have you been to a religious place? The
devotees clean and wash the place thoroughly, the stairs, the front and back yard, and the inner
chamber with water and at some places, with milk too. What use is all that if we never clean our
minds before going to such places of worship?
The same is with our body. We shower from head to toe, but care less for our mind that
thinks, gives directions, and decides everything for us. It remains constantly negative from morning
till evening. The purity of mind is as important as washing or bathing our body. Like our body
excretes all wastage from itself, the mind needs to follow suit.
Each and every chapter in this book is followed by a simple exercise that can help you do the
same. I hope that all I have learnt through the years of my life may benefit you. This book has been
my childhood 'dream'. I never let the spark of writing fade away through all these years. I kept the
light burning inside me. No doubt, it took me many years to reach my goal, but I finally wrote this
book.
I am thankful to all those who were a part of my journey of writing this book. First of all I
thank the Almighty. His divine presence encouraged me to write on. I am grateful to my husband,
daughter, son, my parents and my friends.
